Bishop, The Rt. Rev. “Bavi” Nedi Rivera- We are so blessed to have the continued love and support from our Bishop. +Nedi, as we affectionately refer to her, helps to plan and attend adult and youth events at Ascension School. +Nedi was an avid camper as a youth and continues to love to participate in our summer camp programs.
Ascension School Advisory Board- The Ascension School Board is comprised of volunteers from inside and outside of the Diocese. These folks are faithful supporters of Ascension School, some of them even being former campers, others have loved and supported Ascension School the first time they experienced this wonderfully loving place. The school board acts as an advisory board to the Executive Director. They also provide consultation and hard work in the areas of program, maintenance, finance and long term planning and marketing and communications.
Executive Director, Patty Olson-Lindsey- Patty is a former camper and counselor. Most recently she has been a part of the Ascension School team since 2007. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of Ascension School Camp and Conference Center.
Executive Director’s Assistant/Hospitality Manager, Lisa Boquist- Lisa has been with the Ascension School team since 2009. Lisa is the smile you see when you first arrive and helps to provide that wonderful experience you have at Ascension School. She manages all aspects of hospitality for camp and conference center including housekeeping and food services. She is also responsible for various office duties and special projects as needed.
Program Director, Cori Brewster, PhD.- Cori also a former camper and counselor has most recently been a part of Ascension School’s team since the summer of 2009. She resides in La Grande and works for Eastern Oregon University as an Associate Professor of English during the school year and our Program Director in the summer. Cori manages the program components of the summer camp season. She resides at camp during the summer months.
Kitchen Manager, Dori Frazier- Dori joined our team in 2010. Dori has a love and passion for cooking and providing a warm nutritious meal for all. You won’t leave Ascension School hungry. This position manages every aspect of the kitchen and meal preparation.
Resident Staff – Also known as our camp counselors. Camp could not be camp without these wonderful young adults.
These positions lead the summer camp program under the direction of the Program Director. Resident Staff live in the cabins and monitor campers in the cabins throughout the summer.
Health Manager (Nurse)
Our Nurse is responsible for the Health issues on campus. The nurse dispenses all medication and responds to illness and accidents in appropriate manor. Our nurse helps to keep everyone happy and healthy during our summer months.
Kitchen Staff- Our kitchen staff work with Dori, our Kitchen Manager, on food preparation, washing dishes and helping in many other areas of the kitchen. These young people work harder than most providing an enjoyable meal to all of our participants.
Housekeepers- Our housekeepers work diligently to keep all of our buildings ready for our next camp and or event. They make sure everything is perfect for your stay, whether it is a rustic camping experience or a pampered quilting retreat.
Resource Staff-Our volunteers are instrumental in making our summer camping program a success. Our volunteer staff lead small group time, focusing on our summer’s theme. They provide activity blocks, accompany groups to the pool, and do the activity sign-up during quiet time. They lead family groups during the educational time and lead in chapel planning and KP duties.
Junior Counselor- Also known as counselor’s in training. These positions are filled by our high school campers who are training to be resident counselors in the future. These youth volunteer their time to help lead the camping program during the summer months.
Clergy- We have clergy who volunteer to assist us with our pastoral needs for all of our Diocesan sponsored programs and our summer camp programs. The clergy come from inside and outside of the Diocese of Eastern Oregon. Without these clergy who volunteer countless hours of their personal time we couldn’t have our summer camp program. We are so blessed.
Grounds Crew
Our awesome ground crew is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of grounds.
